How does getting a second BA work?

I want to get a degree in music and spanish, but because i will exceed the maximum units allowable I can only obtain one degree.

How would it work if I reapplied for a second BA in another subject? In this case I would probably major in Spanish and then try to get a second BA in music and then go to grad school.

Ya, go to student services and talk to the right person. What the heck is this "maximum units allowable" stuff? I thought the idea was a student could take as many classes as they pay for and they can get as many degrees as their completed classes qualify them for?

Now that you have your GE credits out of the way, all you should need to take is the coursework for that particular degree.

If it's from the same institution: The way it works in some places is that a second degree doesn't exactly mean you'll get a second diploma necessarily because you've already graduated. It just counts as an additional major.

So you may have to take the core classes for the major, but they are additional to the existing classes of your previous major. You may have to take 20-40 hours to complete the additional BA. Just depends on the program and whether or not you need any additional prerequisites.

At my school, they make a distinction between double degree and double major.

Double degree means you physically get two pieces of paper and you receive two full degrees. Double major is only one degree with two majors.

The difference is roughly 35 credits.

This makes sense. I know there are many closely related majors out there where the difference is only a handful of classes. I would still like to know about this max units allowable thing though.
