How does "Final Fantasy : The Spirits Within" end? *spoilers maybe?*

Can somebody tell me how the Final Fantasy movie ends? I went to see it today, but near the end of the movie(just after the Zeus cannon blows up) the film in the projector like burned up, you could see the piece of burned up film on the screen, so they didn't finish the rest of the movie and I have no idea what happens at the end.

They did give all of us in the theater a re-admission ticket for another movie, though. Instead of watching the FF movie all the way through again just to see the ending, I chose to watch Kiss of the Dragon instead(good movie BTW). So if anybody can tell me how it ends I would really appreciate it.

Aki gets the 8th and final spirit wave. Grey sacrifices himself so that the completed wave to annihilate the phantoms.

Btw, I thought the plot was waayyy to straightforward to be "Final Fantasy."

Basically the 8th spirit comes to Aki and all 8 spirits are joined together. After an initial failed attempt to convey the 8 spirits to the alien Gaia, they have an idea:

Aki's guy (forget his name) holds Aki's hand and lets the alien Gaia pull his spirit out of his body. The guy is killed, but this method converts the entire alien Gaia into the blue Earth Gaia.

Then the "camera" pans away from a sad but victorious Aki, showing the eagle flying across a restored earth.

Not a very satisfying ending, but acceptable I guess.

OMG that movie sucked! The voice acting was terrible and there was almost NO PLOT!
