how does facebook know who my old coworkers were?

ok so i have a facebook account with only a handful of friends. none of these friends know any of my old coworkers from 14 years back. how the heck did facebook add these coworkers to the 'Do you know.." list?! these coworkers dont know my current email. i last communicated to them 11 years ago via an old Yahoo email that I check on occassion.

time to delete faceboof permanently.

I assume you didn't list that employer. Could these people have searched for you, then FB found a pattern to decide where you worked? Honestly I don't know.

If it's not directly from listed work experience, I would imagine it's from your/their address book ('contacts,' whatever).

I would guess you would realize if old friends and/or coworkers were being brought up because you uploaded your contacts...but maybe it's going the other way and recommending friends to you because your number was in their phone?

that'd be my guess.

if the OP didn't share anything, his old coworkers probably had his email address or phone number saved as a contact that they shared with Facebook.

the old coworkers dont know the email i used to register with facebook. they dont have my #. and i live about a hundred miles away. my facebook account doesnt list my places of employment, im not searchable, and i used a fake name to create it. wth man, trippy.....

Your personal data is far too profitable for them to be concerned about petty and unimportant things like the wishes or deletion instructions of the original owner of that data.
