Im wondering if id be able to get an EVgA 8800gt, then keep stepping up every few months or is that not possible? wanted to go from maybe an 8800gt to a 9800gtx to a gtx 260 then 280... every couple months or would i have to do this all within 3 months?

as far as i know, you're only allowed to step up once when you buy the card. in other words, you can't step up using a card you received from a step up.

You only get to step-up once per retail purchase. They take your purchase price and charge the difference from for their MSRP, which can be higher than retail. In cases where your card cost more, you only need to pay shipping. Generally step-up doesn't work too well unless you purchase near full retail price and step-up to a new product shortly after release, which will be selling for nearly full retail price. If you paid significantly less than retail than you'll probably have to pay a good bit for step-up. If the card is selling much less retail than MSRP, it may ultimately be cheaper for you to just buy it retail and sell your old card.

It is hard to say. I love my 8800GT. It was the right price at the right time (I got it a few weeks after they came out). If your monitor is less than 1920x1200, than the 8800GT will be fine for just about everything except Crysis.

Im looking at trying to max out Fallout 3 and any other games that come out this year. Ill be playing Warhammer online a ton too and want some nice smooth frames. Would an 8800gt be able to do that? This is my computer so far that im building.

Would it viable to get an 8800gt, then later on try to get a better card and use the 8800gt as a physx card? Would that work out alright?
