I just pulled out my old NES and remembered how I always wanted to know how that gun works? How does the game know where you aimed that thing? Was it all just random or is there some special device in there that lets it no where you hit?
I think it might be the gun "sees" what part of the screen you're aiming at, maybe based on color or something like that. At least that's how I'm pretty sure regular light guns work.

It's amazing that nintendo had something like that back in the 80's for such a cheap price.
