i always thought that for dual channel you needed 2 stick of the same size and make. but i just added a 256mb stick to my system that already had a 256mb and a 512mb and when i booted up it now says dual channel enabled, and cpuz says im running dual channel. all of them are different brands aswell as different chips.

so now i have to ask, what do you realy need for dual channel?

Hint: searching might provide a lot of information on this topic.

Most modern systems can run dual-channel in so-called 'unbalanced' dual channel configurations, where there is an uneven amount of memory on each channel. Of course, you may have also set it up with 1x512MB on one channel and 2x256MB on the other, which would also usually work.

thank you.

after looking it up i see i have mine set up wrong. i need to switch it around so my 2 256 sticks are on one channel. so i could be getting a little more out of it.
