As title really.
I'm pretty familiar with the Gurney-Mott theory and the basic chemistry of negative development and reversal processing - but am still puzzled by direct positive film.
We use it at work sometimes, and it gives a positive image - but is developed in exactly the same way as out negative films (it just goes in the same slot in the same automatic processor running the same program/chemicals).
So what gives? Google has been of virtually no use - and wikipedia doesn't even mention it.
