I had a Radeon 64MB Vivo for a little over a week...not terribly impressed, Diablo2 refused to run in D3D mode (after a clean Win98SE install) and the Win2000 drivers kinda blow...
Matrox's performance is pretty low for the G450, and I respect them for they are good at...but I run in 800x600x32x85 so anything from a TNT1 to a G400 is probably good enough 2D for me.
So that leaves 3dfx and nVidia, I think the NV20 will probably cost way to much for me. If 3dfx released two version of Rampage, a low-cost single chip version might be an option, but if not it will be GF2MX or V5-5500. I've never used a nVidia card (briefly had a TNT2 but it was incompatible with ALi chipset I had on my super7 board) so I've got a few questions related to them.
I've only used it in Glide on my V3, how well does D3D work with a nVidia based card?
And does anyone know what API War3 will use? I guess it won't be Glide...I heard War3 is T&L capable...so D3D would be my guess...but it could be OGL...anyone know either way? I just want to make sure it will run well on a Nvidia board.
Also while I'm at it, how are UT engine games? (Rune specifically)
Halflife? It's mini-GL based, but does it run well in full OpenGL or D3D?
How about EverQuest (not that I ever play it anymore..)
I think those are the only games I use Glide for....
