How does deferment on a student loan work if there is a cosigner?

Deferment on a student loan should be very easy to get. They don't demand much to prove hardship. If it has gotten to the point that they're looking for cosigners, someone has seriously fucked up bigtime. All it takes is filing a formal request and you should get it.

Conveniently, your loans are deferred as long as you're enrolled in school. Automatically.

Hmm, that only happens if you neglect payments, don't tell them you need deferment, basically ignore them.

Alternatively, there are some loans out there (I have one) where upon graduation I can release the co-signer. One of my loans has my dad on it, but I promised him when I graduated I would drop his name.

That's what I thought.

Mom is convinced that "Citigroup won't continue with that sort of policy, not when they need $10B".
Partly Lol, but mostly just frustrating. Doesn't want to cosign my loan. I'm going to one of the top engineering universities in the country...thanks mom...glad to know you think so much of me...

You can get a decent education (do engineering so you can make money) at a local community college, you just have to be self disciplined to study (because you can pass just fine without doing any work). Or consider an Associates Degree in some technology stuff or something.

You can also look around some. My friend got a full ride to EKU for having a 28 on his ACT, AP classes, a 4 years of choir(!) as extra curricular in highschool.
