How does David Blaine do this magic card trick?

I was watching TV and david blaine did this cool card trick.

He had this kid cut a deck of cards. Then he had him take the top 5 cards off the deck, look at the cards, pick a card and memorize the card. He then asked the kid to put his hand on David's chest. David lifted up his shirt and there was an imprint of the card on David's right pectoral that the kid picked...

So how did he do this trick? Was the kid in on it and it was just a scam, or did david blaine really do a trick? (or maybe the kid was so surprised at the imprint, he forgot the card and just said it was the card because it was so amazing?)

I love magic. Sleight of hand, especially.

However, some tricks really ARE impossible. The trick was absolutely pre-staged. The kid was in on it, etc. There's no other explanation for it.

I thoroughly enjoy magicians who specialize in closeup magic. Right in front of you, they put a quarter or something in a box. You see it go in there. And then it's gone! I love that stuff! :D

I have no idea, but I have SEEN this live with another guy, except he had the card as a photo on his cellphone. It was crazy.

No, I saw it with my own eyes. If I were on the show I would be one of the people watching Blaine and the person do the trick. I watched the guy's eyes, they didn't look at the cards... and she shuffled, he didn't look at the bottom cards, etc.

This trick, at least, is not staged. I want to know how it's done too.

i think some of his TV tricks are staged

liek when they show him "flying" he only actually lifts off a few inches at most but they show the peoples reaction and cut to him way up in the air like that other magician

/spews drink all over screen

Bahahaha! :D Thanks a lot, pal!! Now I gotta make a new drinky!!!!

ps
We have beer & wine icons...how about a "bottle of liquor" icon? Just a thought....but a thought from a Platinum Card Holder from the Bannandtech Vacation Club doesn't carry any weight here. Now, if I was a 20-year old college student with no real life or work experience and I voted for liberal, tree-hugging type legislation, hell, I'd have my OWN AVATAR with my face on it!!!

I think the trick might be in that one to get him to pick the card he wants. The ones the baffle me are the one where the card was in the cops shoe or the one where he thew the card at a window and the card was on the OTHER side of the glass

The ones that end with the picked card being somewhere else, or imprinted somewhere is almost always a forced card. You aren't really picking a card... they are giving you a card.

The trick is simple

Step 1) paint a card on your chest
Step 2) Kid picks card
Step 3) show him your chest
Step 4) repeat with different kids until you get one that actually picked your card (this could be helped with some deck stacking)
Step 5) edit out the one's that did not work.

the ones where you don't see him, he's doing balducci levitation. when you see him that one time, he's being lifted up by wires.

I watched that last night also just for a few minutes and I saw him have a girl write her name on a card, then he shuffled the deck and fluttered the cards into the air. The card with her name written on it ended up inside a beer bottle behind the girl who wrote her name.

???

For enjoying magic so much you sure are clueless. I guess that is why Blaine has become so popular. He is a subpar magician technically, but damn he's a good performer. It's all in the appearance...

As for that particular "trick", I highly doubt the kid was in on it, just like I doubt 99% of the spectators in his television specials were in on it. There is just no need for it.
