Has anyone done it before? How your experince? Can you use a card not made by ATI? I have a ATI 8500 64MB, if I traded it in for a ATI 9700 how much of a discount would I get?

it's all listed on their site. Basically you trade in an old card and get like a $50 credit toward the new one. Considering you're paying MSRP it's better to sell your card for $50 and order from newegg.com or something

ATI's trade up program has always been a rip off. They only accept certain cards in the program so it's not like you can just turn in a S3 Virge and get $xxx amount off of whatever retail price is assigned to the new card. Also, as mentioned above, you can the find the same card on pricewatch at a better price without a discount and you don't wind up loosing your old card (which can be sold off or moved into another system).

1. Drop pants
2. Bend over, grab ankles
3. Hope that the ATI rep has some Arctic Silver Thermal Grease, and feels like using it.

$50 off MSRP! Woohoo!

Are you telling me that they'd only give me $50 for my GeForce4-Ti4400? Forget about it!:disgust:

I have an old 8 meg pci rage pro card. If they gave me 50 for that on a modern cad, that would be a good deal.
Does it really work that way?

Dude, you can buy the card cheaper online even after the $50 comes off.
ATI: $399- $50= $349 + shipping
Pricewatch/Extremegear: $324 shipped

Like I said:
Bend over, grab ankles.
