How does an order that has been cancelled still ship out two days later?

Recently ordered a Lenovo laptop. Placed the order, realized almost immediately that I probably want the 6 cell battery instead of the 4 cell, so I called to cancel the order and the sales rep said a cancellation request was put in the system. I called back an hour later to confirm the cancellation and I placed another order.

Two days later, I get a notification that my cancelled order has shipped.

I realized after one day from placing my second order that I could get a $200 discount on the order, and since the order was still in process and not yet shipped, I called, cancelled this second order, and placed a third order, this time with the discounts applied.

Two days later, my SECOND order gets shipped out.

Now I've got two orders that I have to take and arrange to get prepaid labels for and drop off at a UPS store. All on Lenovo's dime, but my time.

I mean, how hard is it to cancel an order? It's not like Lenovo's playing telephone tag with their warehouse/shipping guys... once it's cancelled it should display "cancelled" in their systems and prevent them from shipping out a cancelled product, right?

Once I ordered a set of cellphone tools (small screwdrivers, torx drivers and plastic wedge thingies), and after two week of not being able to contact the company (phone always busy, emails bouncing) I had my bank reverse the credit card charge. Six months later, I get a package in the mail - the tool kit.

I don't know what this adds. I just felt like sharing.

Cool...cool. So can we get people like you and TehMac to shut the fuck up with your pointless political interjections in threads?

I mean, how hard is it to figure out what you want before you order.

How do you screw up an order TWICE?!

This.

Not even that, but I'm fairly sure you can have UPS pick up the package, so will you even have to really spend any extra time on this?

Obviously harder than you figured. :)

Be happy all it's costing you is your time. Take that 'punishment' as a reminder to know your exact order before you place it.

they found your stuffed bunny and thought that was the priority.

Seriously though it's due to not just one guy handling everything. You should be able to be righted pretty easily with a phone call.
