How does an Intel SU7300 w/ GMA 4500MHD graphics compare...

Assuming all other specs. of the machines are the same, how much of a performance increase will I see going from a system with:

an Intel SU7300 ULV C2D CPU and GMA 4500MHD graphics


to one with:

an AMD E2-1800 and AMD Radeon HD 6300

?

Both run 11.6" screens at 1366x768.

I'm not really looking to use this system for gaming. Mostly for internet, email, Youtube and Netflix.

As far as the processors, is the E2-1800 better than the SU7300?

haven't seen any benchmark, but the old culv processor is probably faster than the bobcat cpu while the amd gpu is faster than the intel 4500

my sister is using a su7300, ati 4330 and a crucial m4 for personal productivity and she's quite happy with it, we paid that laptop around 500$ (plus the crucial m4 a couple years later) and she gets close to 8 hours of battery out of it on a 1.3kg machine... one of the few convincing laptops ever made from acer (timeline 4810tg).

Since you don't want to play gaimes the SU7300 should be better, it's still a 1.3ghz core2 cpu... save up some more and buy something faster? 🙂

The AMD CPU will handle web browsing better because a lot of browsers don't allow GPU acceleration on Intel's older IGPs due to poor driver support.

GMA 4500 isn't quite that old. To the best of my knowledge, all of the post-3100 GMAs are fully supported by the major web browsers.

My wife uses that setup. It's pretty slow but she's able to do anything she wants on the internet, from watching 1080p avchd and flash video to webbrowsing and word processing. The GMA 4500 isn't fast and is clocked very low, but the battery life on her computer is very good and it suits her just fine. I'd say the CPU performance of the SU7300 is better than the AMD E2 and the Intel graphics handle 2D apps just fine. Both are decent choices though.
