The Zip drive is a storage device manufactured and trademarked by Iomega. The Zip drive stores 250 megabytes on disks similar in size and appearance to standard 1.4 megabyte floppy disks, but Zip drives cannot read or write standard floppy disks. The Zip drive has become the almost universal choice for intermediate-size removable storage, in no small part because there are versions of the drive to accomodate every taste. Various versions of the Zip can connect to the computer via the parallel port, SCSI port, USB, IEEE 1394 (Firewire) or internally via the IDE interface.
