How does a Tape Drive work? Please answer soon

Welcome! This is my limited understanding. It's like a cassette tape that it writes data to. Everytime you put a tape into the drive, it will rewind to the beginning and then start copying files. It's really just like a tape recorder. Hope this clears up something. :p

Normally, you start by backing up your entire hard drive and then set it to back up only changes, i.e., new and/or changed files. They're also convenient because you can set it to back up automatically.

They're hard to find them now because most companies have stopped selling travan tape drives.
