i've never used a dishwasher before
i usually wash dishes in the sink and then place them in the dishwasher to air dry

i'm moving out at the end of the month and i decided to turn on the dishwasher so i wouldn't have to manually clean the insides
anyways, it backfired on me
there's a 4-inch puddle of water that's not draining

will it eventually drain with time?
or do i have to do some handywork?

help

If you ran it through a complete cycle and there is still water in the bottom, you have a problem. I would grab some towels, soak it up and call it good. I'm assuming your renting.

If not, there are numerous sites on the web that have to do with appliance repair.

Why would you wash dishes by hand if you have a dishwasher?

Some people are strange.

it's a dishwasher, not a dishdryer.

Anyway, sounds like something in your dishwasher is clogged did you put a bowl full of salad in there or something?

It was run empty.

The water has been "removed." :p

Set the dishwasher to a drain cycle, listen in the sink drain for the water draining from the dishwasher. If you don't hear anything, there's prolly a clog in the dishwasher drain hose somewhere.

JC

and no, it won't eventually drain itself!

Dishwashers only work properly when you are plumbed up to dehydrogenated H2O. The residue from the dehydrogenization oxidizes the particulates and vaporizes any visually perceptive ocscipillants.

Hehehe, put liquid dish (for the sink) soap instead of the correct liquid dishwashing (for the washer) soap in it once, big mistake. It looked like one of those stupid movies when the kitchen fills up with suds. Took forever to clean them up...
