How does a 1440x900 screen compare to 1280x1024?

Hi,
I currently work on a 1280x1024 screen resolution and I am looking into getting a new notebook. I have seen a lot of models with the 1440x900 screen and I am not sure how they compare.

I mean, it will have more lines horizontally but less lines vertically? Will my desktop space expand or decrease? Thing will look bigger or smaller?

Thanks so much,

The area of your screen will decrease about 4%, going from 1.31 m. pixels to 1.26 m.

No great shakes, but... you are changing screen ratios from 4:3 to 16:10, or wide screen. It has advantages, your HD movies will not be letterboxed, etc.

You can adjust Icon and font sizes, etc, in widows, so your desktop will be find, you will scroll more in apps, but The real question is what are the diagonal measurements of each display?

Wider but shorter..
I have a Dell 22" and it runs 1680 x 1050 and I love it.

The thing is I placed an order of a dell 15.4 notebook and I chose 1920x1200. But now I started second guessing and thinking it might be too much for a 15.5. Like things will get too small.
Ideally would be 1650x1050, but dell doesn't sell those anymore. It's either 1440 or 1920.
