Never been around many roaches, but I have a friend who used to live in mississippi or somewhere where their is a lot of them. He said that he used to turn on the light and you could see like 30 of them scurrying into hiding places.
Insects have a waxy coating on their exo-skeletons. The surfactants dissolve the waxy coating, and all of a sudden the juicy innards are exposed to the elements and dry up.
I have had the best success with the orange oil base concentrates. I use them on yellowjackets, and it stops them dead in their tracks.
I used to catch bugs and hold them with tweezers, light up a match and burn off their antenni or legs. I loved watching them squerm and wriggle in pain, then I let em go. I figured that way they would go tell their friends not to stick around my house. It works.
Here in Texas, and all over the South we have tree roaches....which are the flying variety. It doesn't bother me, but alot of women get freaked out by flying roaches.

they get pretty dang big here in Florida...
they fly too. Palmetto Bugs are what they
really are. ...you people thinking of roaches
that are like a 1/2 inch long are wayyyy off.
these nasty effs get to around 4 inches sometimes.
huge mess if you smash 'em (plus it's difficult)
...thus the 409. great from up to 10 feet away.
Kills and Cleans at the same time! I have a feeling
it suffocates them (not to get too gross about it)
HAHAHA, this string reminds me of the Indiana Jones movie - Indiana Jones and the Raiders of the Lost Ark. Remember the part when they are in the tunnel (after Indy presses on some breasts from a statue)? Indy and Short Round are searching through this secret passage and end up walking through a floor littered with bugs. I remember Short Round saying, "What's that sound? Sounds like fortune cookies..." Then they lit up the tunnel and found themselves surrounded by bugs. SOO funny!
The 409 kills them, because the cleaner is made of toxic material! It's too weak to affect humans, but is strong enough to smoother/poisen nasty roaches. Die nasty bugs!!! :|
um...i don't think it does cuz i tried it...i used to catch roaches and test out different cleaning stuff...they are damn tuff to kill (used bleach, 409, windex, rubbing alky, scolding water i boiled, etc etc etc, finally dropped 4 booklets of matchs on it)

Palmetto bugs are nothing more than giant roaches... but we don't want to belive roaches can grow that big.. so we name 'em something else... less scary that way
