How does 3-5 day shipping = 14 total days?

I got this notice two days ago (Sept 1) saying my laptop had shipped:

And I had opted for 3-5 business day shipping, which at the latest, i.e. 5 business days even if they shipped it on the 2nd, would mean it'd arrive on Sept 9th..but instead the estimated date is the 15th

Where did Dell learn how to do math?

Probably their calculation for time to ship+ship time.

They don't seem to have ship data available.

I don't know, the last time I ordered from Dell it took two months for the laptop to arrive that was supposed to arrive in two weeks. If I didn't use a bunch of Gift Certificates I probably woulda just cancelled the order and bought one somewhere else. I had to actually call in and authorize them to complete the order, because waiting forever wasn't inconveniencing enough. The best part? I paid for 2 day shipping.

Are you going to get a tracking number? Go off that. Dell over-estimates on the delivery time so you dont call them 30 times when they promised it too early. That is what they did with my monitor, at least.
