So basically what do you want to happen not just today but for the next few years out.
2006: I want to see democrats take congress, balance out Bush and at least stall any more potential harm or bring any far right legislation to the center.
2008: I would like to see a democrat take the presidency, this might lead to some far left stuff getting through but hopefully it wouldn't get too extreme and would be merely a counter to 6 years of Bush.
2010: I would like to see republicans (hopefully of the fiscally conservative ilk) take back congress. I think a democrat president with republican congress works best. Democrats seem like better national figureheads, particularly when dealing with the international community. But a republican congress would prevent too much heavy spending (
) or over taxation.
Actually in an ideal world somehow a third party (say socially liberal and fiscally conservative) would emerge and take about a third of congress but that seems pretty far fetched.
