Mod

-----------------------------------------------------------

Is there a Wait command or any other way to rest and/or pass time in Oblivion other than finding an unoccupied bed?

Is there any way to remap keys?

Is there a shortcut key (esc brings menu for instance) to get out of a conversation quickly rather than hitting the icon at the bottom with your mouse?

I'm not playing a mage but how would you go about switching between all your spells?
Are you limited to the 1-8 hotkeys that you must share with weapon switching and potions?

Any answers well appreciated, thanks!

Yes you can wait in hourly increments, on the Xbox it's the "back" button, not sure about the PC.

I believe you only have 8 shortcuts, though I'm sure you can mod the PC version.

'T' is wait for me. Unfortunately...you cannot wait while trespassing, which blew my plans of waiting in the countess's basement right out of the water last night.

Gee thanks genius I never thought of that.

Too bad F1-F4 aren't in the FM. There is no way to remap the 1-8 shorcut keys in there either. Did you read something about ending the conversation in the manual that I didn't see?

Is it possible and has anyone figured out if you can set your scroll wheel to rotate through spells? That would be ideal. I don't care about the wheel zooming out (crappily by the way) to 3rd person. I just want to map it to scroll through spells or weapons.

SEE that would help a mage so much. With only 8 quick slots, it's not nearly enough to play efficiently: 2 of them reserved for health and mana pots, 1 for a summon, 2 for buffs, hell you've used up 5 already. add another for your favorite flavor of magic weakness debuff, and then 1 destruction bread and butter spell, the last slot goes to a healing spell. :disgust:
bleh. 8 slots???

As good of a game as it is, Bethesda sure did F up a lot of simple miniscule things that would make oblivion so much better.

That because it's the first game they made with a console on their mind. Then they hacked up the interface to work on the PC.

Yeah, I really miss the Great item views in morrowind. Drag and drop items/clothing/weapons etc. on and off your guy. The big map and ability to move the boxes around the screen and resize them. That was one of the best things about morrowind. They threw all that right out the window for the crapbox360.

Sad but true.
I am also very upset with the crummy UI in Oblivion.
They only thing they improved was the instant travel between visited areas.
Everything else was made worse. Which is kinda depressing.
I have seen a few mods out there that improve the menus. Theres one that doubles the number of line items you see by getting rid of the icons.

Incidentally, how did they work the menus for Morrowind on the Xbox?

I dunno I kinda like the UI.. really nice look to it. The map though is a pain in the ass... way too small and can't zoom. Bleh!

Man it's hard as hell to post or view the official oblivion forums

It was a slightly customized version of the PC, I believe the icons were blown up and the inventory presented in a simple manner (They were all in one row across the screen). It looked pretty clunky.

I would hope bethseda would tweak the PC interface and give it some more options in a patch, but lets face it thats a long shot. Zooming on the map would be nice, and I don't know if a mod can do that or not?
