I am talking about the real Korea, the Korea of the people, not the puppet state of the South. I have seen and heard so much good things about it, and how well they treat guest. I want to experience to true opulence of Korea, as I know they treat their guest very well. What are the cost, and what are the restrictions? I know the U.S government restrictions what countries we are allowed to visit, and our movements in the world. So is approval required from the state department?

I have a few ideas... they all end up with you being tied to a chair.

Go to China (easier) and then cross the Sino–Korean Friendship Bridge to Korea.

This way you will go no where near the bad country that you wish to avoid.

Its pretty easy to go on an organised tour.

But you, obviously as someone who understands how superior life is in NK, will want to go "off piste" and live with the average NK citizen. And obviously the NK authorities will want to share how amazing life is there will have no problem with you going where you will.

So I can see no problems with you booking an organised tour and then "skipping town" and going on your own tour.

You should go for it.
