Riding the bus home, I saw a girl lathering up her car in one of the "stalls" at a Texaco and realized that my car needed washing. How do you do it? Do you take your own soap and sponge? I don't want to go there then not know what to do.

Just wash it yourself.

On the topic, I've never seen a gas station where the car wash wasn't the drive throught type. Basically, enter one side dirty, exit the other side clean.

It wasn't mechanical. It was just stalls for people to wash their own cars. Austin is a college town so I guess it's for all the students who live in dorms and apartments (like me) who can't wash in the parking lot.

They have high pressure hoses, and foam brushes (a large brush that's hooked up to a hose that ejects foam). YOu wash your car and spray it off ;)

are you talking about cholo wash on guadalupe right north of 38th? you go in there and you put quarters in it and it gives you some time and you can select what sort of stuff you use to wash with. used to go there all the time when i lived in the gables.

Yeah u jus put in quarters for a certain amount of time and jus choose which cycle you want and wash ur car. Be careful though...some of those brushes can leave swirl marks on ur car.

Yeah that's where I went. Close to a Jiffy Lube. There was a guy with a big pimpmobile Cadillac.. I almost laughed when I saw it, but restrained myself. Some hot girls with an MR2 also, and a guy with a yellow Miata (chick car?). It's like an adventure!

Are you attending college in Austin, TX?
There is probably a course available that explains how to use an automatic car-wash.

But then I would have to wait until next semester. And this wasn't automatic!

You could just go to a cc... those are the only classes they offer!

I looked at my hood today and saw white flecks all over it! It feels like pieces of paint broke off!!! Not on the rest of the car though...
