If I need optical or coax for a reciever, what is that little RCA jack called digital out on the Audigy 2? Is there an adaptor cable sold by Creative?

Before you do this: you will only get stereo not 5.1 for games, since Creative is too lazy in their market dominance to support Dolby Live real-time encoding of a Dolby 5.1 signal.

If you don't care about that, Advanced Search "Audigy" for old threads on this. If you have a standard Audigyyou have "coax digital" not optical and need a miniplug-to-RCA adaptor.

You don't need an adapter sold by creative to use that port. You need a male mono 3.5mm headphone to *1* female RCA adapter.

Something like this: http://www.mycableshop.com/sku/251-200.htm

You can buy it at Radio Shack, but the employees will most likely be no help to you find it whatsoever. You can then use any normal, long, RCA cable to connect from this to your receiver.

Edit: And dave is correct, you will only get 5.1 sound in movies that produce 5.1 sound, it does not upsample to DD 5.1. I believe you may get 5.1 in Doom 3 - but I haven't tried it.

The RCA plug cable must be coaxial as for video & digital audio.

Here's an example of a Radio Shack adapter.

If you do, I think the only cards that do DDL are the X-Mystique and the Turtle Beach Montego.

Negative. The Coaxial adapter is just an RCA plug, and you can use just a regular long RCA cable to connect it as well. Nothing needs to be "coaxial" about anything. All you need is the adapter I described above, and a single male - male RCA cord and it will work.
