I checked the help file and the instructions it showed were completely wrong. I want to directly connect with someone because we want to get a game with no lag and an ISP just won't cut it esp when his free ISP will only give him 28.8. How do you use it? Can someone try it for me? please help.

I had this setup a year or two ago. From what I recall, the help files were correct :)

I think you have to install Dialup Server (from Add/Remove Programs) and then it will put an option on one of the menus in Dialup Networking. Then just configure it to allow incoming calls and you are set :)

I've done it to two computers and both don't show the extra setting that is supposed to come up. Still investigating...

Hey!

I just did this the other day with my friend to play AOE 2 against each other. After you have it installed though windows setup, goto my computer -> dial-up networking. Click on the "connections" menu button. Dial-up server sould be a choice at the bottom of the menu. Hope dis helps.

"connections" does not show up at all. I'm using the exact same version of windows and "connections" does not show up on either one of them. I'm gonna try installing "dial up networking" and "dial up server at the same time" and when it asks for the win98 CD i'll use a diff CD.
