How do you update drivers before updating bios

Hi, I'm getting problems with installing Win2k on a A8n SLI Premium based opteron 170 machine. I have a PATA 200 Gb HDD and my Win2K installation hangs or BSODs

I ran Memtest and my 2Gb Mushkin Extreme seemed fine.
I was told to upgrade bios. But to upgrade bios i was asked to upgrade nVidia chipset driver. How do I do this without having an OS installed?
