How do you unlock weapons in BF2?

every rank at lance corporal and on... one weapon at time... Lance corp is 1000 points...

Get the MEDIC kit... the gun is an automatic riffle with a scope... its the most accurate gun in the game!
 
I've been playing for a week or so and am only up to 138 points 🙁 What is the quickest way to gain points? Be a winning commander (which is kinda difficult at a low rank, usually a higher ranking person gets the spot)?
