If you have WinXP, I don't think you can uninstall IE6.0 since it is the part of operation system. What about using system restore so that it can go back to the point which were good.

microsoft believes that the internet browser should be so closely integrated into the os, that the os would not function without the browser .. what do you mean by "messed up my java" ? .. your best options (as is always the case) is a format/reinstall ....

As I understand it, IE 6 removed java support. You might try going to www.javasoft.com and download "a java plugin" and hopefully Yahoo built their applets to load with the plugin. Last I checked, Sun was working to get it working with IE6.

Even better, switch to Netscape 6.2.1 (or Mozilla if you want the latest www.mozilla.org). It actually works well now, and supports java via said plugin.

WinXP does not come with a Java VM. And from IE6 on, IE will not come with a JVM either.

You have to get Sun's JVM, which now works with all applets in IE.
