Break it down into componenet protons, neutrons, and electrons, and recombine them into gold atoms.

I just found out this has been done lead > gold, but just not profitable.

Why bother with gold, just get the machine they use to make industrial diamonds.

If there was a machine that could turn plain "rocks" in to gold, then gold would have no value.

There are machines that can make gold from other metals. It just costs a few hundred million bucks for one of them, and then it's a few billion more per gram of gold you want to produce...
