How do you turn on a ATX PSU w/ no mobo?

I know you have to short out a couple of leads in the ATX connector.. but are you supposed to short them temporarily or just stick something in there and leave it? Which ones?
I looked around but couldn't find another thead, even though I've seen this asked before. So yeah, which wires do you short out? Thanks.
