How do you turn off auto suggest/ auto complete in Google?

On my new Laptop Google always brings down a list of possible suggestions to click on. I've always had this disabled in the past. It is a security and privacy concern.

The problem exists in Google using IE8 Browser as well as Google in my Firefox Browser. How do I turn it off? Thank you.

Well, if you have a bookmark link to Google search, you can add &complete=0 to the end of the link.
