Healthcare for all, and workers rights. But D's also hate America at the same time and aren't the party of the people. Classic conservative doublespeak.

Federally funded college educations? Having the insane thought the rich should pay a higher tax rate? Corporations shouldn't run rough shod over people and should be held accountable for their actions? Ensuring profits aren't privatized while losses are socialized? That people should make a living wage and be able to support their families without having to work 3 jobs or qualify for federal assistance while working a full time job?

These are all the "extreme left" positions that scare the hell out of the GOP.

This is because people, and we are prime idiots most of the time, will acquire this entitled notion that it “cant get worse than this shitshow”. Which is of course absurd. Trump sympathizers dont understand what they are cheering for... and when they realize it, its gonna be too late.

I’ve complained about my Trumpie relatives ever since they voted for Donald Trump. And back then the division went pretty deep. So deep that some of my normal family still refuse to speak to the Trumpie half to this day. But personally and as time goes by, and as I see them the Trumpies digging in even deeper with their loyalty to Donald Trump, I just feel sorry for them. It’s like losing your entire family in a plane crash. Tragic, and there is nothing that you can do about it. And I have seen how the Trump policies have hurt them and they can’t even see it. My nephew is married, has three kids from 17 years down, all of them hard core Donald Trumpies. I really hate watching the kids fall into the brainwashing and glassy eyed cult that their parents have become part of. I have witnessed their deep down bigotry coming to the surface and their attitude of superiority, they think they have it all figured out but in truth they are just white trash the same as all of the Trumpies. Back when Donald Trump imposed his tax reform, that reform costs my nephew and his family a lot. Usually getting a pretty hefty tax refund, my nephew now owed some $4000. Of which, the IRS came after him for. All due to Donald Trump’s tax reform or big giveaway to the wealthy, yet regardless of my nephew does not blame Donald Trump. My nephew blames THE GOVERNMENT. Another shocker for me as an eye witness, where Trumpies can not understand that Donald Trump is the government, now. This government is not that scary liberal government that republicans and tea parties feared so much, this government is indeed Donald Trump’s government. But try telling that to a Trumpie.

And my Trumpie family has an excuse or comeback for everything. For wearing masks which they all refuse to do, they either quit shopping at mask required business or they complain I CANNOT BREATHE while wearing their mask. Just like some spoiled brat kid. So I posted a photo from 1960 where my Trumpie sister was outside playing in the snow in winter and she was wearing a face mask or better known as a mouth scarf to keep her face from freezing. I posted SEE, MOM PUT A FACE MASK ON YOU WHEN YOU WERE A CHILD TO PROTECT YOU. SO... DO WHAT MOM DID AND PROTECT YOUR OWN FAMILY WITH A FACE MASK. Well, she just ignored my post because that is what a Trumpie does when confronted with reality. They simply ignore.

Or how about Tom Hanks. Tom was just on a news show giving an update on his COVID-19 experience. Tom said through antibody testing that his COVID-19 antibodies were actually decreasing, and Tom was concerned that he could catch the virus all over again. I mentioned what Tom Hanks had said to my Trumpie sister because my sister also believes anyone including herself that had a cold back during 2019 actually in fact had the Covid-19 virus and thus now have antibodies thus another reasoning why she does not need to wear a face mask. So I mentioned to sis about Tom Hanks and the Covid-19 antibodies may not last long and my sister snapped back, OH, THEY PAID HIM TO SAY THAT. Without a moment hesitation her come back was that. And I realized, Trumpies have an answer for everything.

Or, how about all the conspiracy theory YouTubes my Trumpie family posts on Facebook denying the virus, denying the deaths, and they actually believe COVID-19 is a conspiracy created by none other than Nancy Pelosi and chuck Schumer. I mean, their delusion goes on and on. And they absolutely hate Alexandria Ocasio Cortez, so I post as many YouTubes and reference to AOC as I can because it drives them crazy. THAT, and I simply love Alexandria.

My Trumpie family are all college educated, upper middle class wage earners, so I just can’t understand how they were taken in to such an extent by someone so obviously weak and childish as Donald Trump. I just don’t get it. And I feel sorry for them. It’s like they all suffered collective brain damage. My nephews son, for example, was given the school assignment to write a report on effects of climate change I.e. global warming. The boy came home from school and told his Trumpie parents about the class assignment. So, my Trumpie nephew actually took time off work just to march up to school and confront the teacher arguing that his son would have nothing to do with such an assignment because OUR FAMILY DOES NOT BELIEVE IN CLIMATE CHANGE. My nephew made a big stink in front of that poor teacher with yelling HOW DARE YOU PUSH GLOBAL WARMING DOWN MY SONS THROAT. And people wonder why teachers are so stressed. Teachers must put up with Trumpie parents.
.
And I must add about Trumpies. Most if not all of them do have serious mental disorders. Like my Trumpie nephew, as a young teen he and his buddies would drive around country roads late at night playing a game of road kill. They would drive around for hours looking for little nighttime critters on the dirt roads and run them over. Killing the animals for fun and enjoyment. Rabbits, raccoons, possums, anything and everything on four legs. That is the mind of a typical Trumpie. Or his mother, my Trumpie sister, she never trusted the system. She never once voted for the party nominee whether Republican or Democrat. No, she had to vote for the outsider. Ross Perot in 1992, or Ralph Nader, anyone except the two main candidates because naturally to my Trumpie sister the main candidates were a plant. The scam candidates. And then Donald Trump came along and the heavens open while the angels sang. Yes, Trumpies had their perfect candidate. Something they have waited for a long long time. In other words, the savior. And that is my first hand experience with a Trumpie and with my Trumpie family. Lost souls indeed.
I am sorry, I know of these people too, killing animals for fun. They’re all on my naughty list, I wouldnt piss on them if they were on fire.

Talking about US Politics. In the US they are extreme left of center in my view.

Of course you are welcome to your own view as well.
I'm supposing you find the Breitbart and Stormfront crowd far right while the rest of the planet finds them crazy if not criminal. You might want to adjust your perspective. If you viewed the political spectrum as a loaf of bread, you'd think the last three slices of bread on the right was the entire loaf.

My 72 year old mother is an absolutely militant Fox News and Trump supporter. She treats anything on Fox News as her version of the gospel from on high, no matter how fucking stupid the ideas are. She watches it all day long (in between watching Fox videos on Youtube).

It is literally painful for me to listen to her regurgitate that stupid crap that Hannity/Carlson/ Fox et al spend all day shoveling about Trump, VP Cueball, and the rest of the Republican fear-mongering corps .

I basically have to avoid the subject of politics as she is so unreasonable it is not funny. Like trying to reason with a flat earther or anti-vaxxer not funny.

Worst part is I'm mostly conservative, but I'm both reasonable and relatively sane (and don't feel the need to push my political beliefs off on anybody else).

I've pretty much decided that life in the era of Dumb-and-Delusional Donald and his bootlicking ilk is absolute hell on earth.
Just as a joke what if you walked into ma's house with a syringe, say it's filled with disinfectant and bleach and tell her Trump says you should take this so I'm going to inject you. Would she object?

You lost me at AOC and Warren being extreme liberals.

I still struggle with the whole concept of 'extreme liberal'. To me I find it hard not to hear it as absurd, similar to "furiously placid" or "happily depressed".

For most of my life "liberal" has been synonymous with "centrist" or "compromiser". You were either a socialist, a conservative, or - in the middle - a liberal (a 'reasonable' type who wanted everyone to compromise and get along). I find it hard to get my head around a phrase that I hear as 'extremely in the middle''.

On the other hand, in recent times , 'liberalism' has increasingly become synonymous with neo-liberalism. That kind of liberal individualism has dominated in recent decades. So for me now the term "extreme liberal", insofar as I can make any sense of it at all, would bring to mind Thatcher or Reagan.

My son and wife are extreme liberals ( like AOC and Warren liberal ). When I go visit him or vice versa Politics is a forbidden discussion. If he broaches the subject I leave or he leaves.

We have learned to just not discuss politics.
By extreme do you mean she accosts people in the halls of Congress and curse at them?

I still wouldn't call them extreme. They're not asking for communism or even a fully socialist government; they just don't think you should be denied healthcare or a decent education based on your income. They accept climate science, and question why billionaires are paying lower tax rates than millionaires did a few decades ago.

Decidedly left of the US center, sure, but "extreme" is a word you use for people who harbor truly radical ideas... and sorry, but AOC, Warren and the like are not radical, whether in an American context or international.

Family members I mostly ignore if they're doing that type of shit unless they try to talk to me about it in which case I'll straight up call them stupid to their face. And then I'll show them why they're stupid and remind them to stop being so stupid. My family in general are kinda idiots, but even they can see how shitty Turmp is.

I'm glad that I have pretty limited interaction with other people at work. Most are fine and people are helpful, but I have noticed like others that right wingers sure seem to go out of their way to speak their political mind (which is hilarious when they're saying stuff like "you're paid to play sports not talk politics!" because there definitely wasn't anything about talking politics in our job duties).

Kind of funny story, although not my family. We live in Wisconsin, and there is a house in our small town on the main drag that has Trump signs all over the yard. Apparently with the covid thing people are putting up signs in their yards here with pictures of their high school graduates and congrats 2020 grad on them. These people have two sons that graduated, I'm not sure if they are twins. But their first names are Mason and Dixon, and the father flies a confederate flag on his house. Asking around it seems this family is 100% Yankee, but for some reason sympathize with the south. One of the boys was told he can't fly the Dixie flag on his pickup if it's parked on school property, and they made a fuss.

Several people have commented on Facebook about how Wisconsin fought for the north during the civil war, not for the south. I can't understand the motivation, maybe the dad is a huge Dukes of Hazard fan.

I grew up in a very unique environment. Born in 1946, living in what was then a rural area in the south, and only about 3 miles from where I live now.

My parents ran a business that was seasonal and hired a number of people which were all black. 6 or more in the summer, one or two over the winter. I don’t know the rational, but they came to work every day, and did their jobs. They came into our home which was next to the business, and most mornings sat at the kitchen table for a cup of coffee and to chat, when they came to work. I often ate my breakfast with them then left to go to my segregated school. Seemed normal enough, at the time.

There were probably 5 – 6 other white kids nearby, in my age range +/- 3 year, and we ran together. If we wanted to play baseball or basketball, we didn’t have enough to make two teams, so we played with the 6 or so black kids that lived in the area. I don’t recall any racist remarks or taunts from anyone. Basketball teams weren’t designated by shirts/skins, but by color.

I rode public transportation from time to time, and I remember the “colored to the rear” stenciled at the front of the bus. Occasional I would see one of the blacks (we called them ‘colored’ at the time) I knew on the bus, and would go and sit with them in the back. Probably got some looks, but I was oblivious at the time. I remember “colored” and “whites only” drinking fountains, and restrooms downtown.

This was also a time when parents would let a couple of 10 year-old’s go downtown by themselves on a Saturday, go to a movie, get a haircut, something to eat, use the public restrooms on the square, then take the bus home.

I was the last segregated class to graduate from my high school, which was integrated the next school year.

My dad was a staunch conservative, but I suspect he would be totally enraged at what that means today. Of course, that was also a quandary, as in addition to his conservative views, he was also an atheist (as am I). He was a successful businessman and I remember a good bit of his advice, but one the really sticks is when he said; “there is only one reason to go to church on Sunday, and that is to see who is sitting in the front pew. For that is that bastard that will try and screw you in a business deal on Monday”. Later in life I learned how accurate that advise was.

Mom was brainwashed by Fox and despise all of them for it.
We just avoided politics. She passed away in December and I am SO GLAD we didnt have to watch the impeachment together, or the pandemic. It would have killed us both.
She used to be an intellectual. She used to be a critical thinker. She had two masters degrees and served in the Navy for 26 years. I do not know what happened to her.

My Mom was talking and she started saying that someone she knew was telling her that Fox News was the most reliable news source there was. This shocked me so much I just turned towards her and blurted out, "No!". The next 20 minutes was me trying to calmly convince her and others in my family that it wasn't even close to being a good source. It's kinda like finding a child reaching up to a cup of boiling water on the counter.

Thank You for your insights and sharing your life expweriencesd on this subject!
In my high school years (1971 - 19730 I lived in an all white community right next to another community that was all colored people! It was known and true that if you were white and the sun went down and in that Black community if caught you would get beat up! I had a friend who got beat up real bad.

Well nothing changed for maybe 10 - 15 years until slowly but surely the Hispanic took over that BLack community ! nOt by force, but it was Hispanic families that moved into that community! They started businesses had a lot of children and almost over night the demographics changed and everybody was getting along!
In the little town the we lived in the Asians moved in and all of a sudden we were the minority! But that was Ok!! Everybody got along!

To this day I have many Asian and Black friends in fact I am pretty well known for how I treat all people! It is amazing what a little patience and understanding can accomplish!!

Just incase you are wondering The Black Community and Hispanic community all serve on the City Council and the mayor is Black and very welcoming of all peoples into this community!

The Police walk around what we call the projects at least 3 days out of the week talking and getting to know first hand what is going on!
As I was telling Muse a while back I am fortunate to live in a part of the country where it seems that the Police are a part of the community, instead of the problem!
Peace!!
Curious, as I was only a few years before you... but the nearby black community wasn't the problem. The few times I had run in's/fights were with white's from the other side of the river, or as they, the wrong side of the tracks, which ran along the river. Well aside from the worst fight I had, with my best friend at the time. Had a knife pulled on me a couple of times. A fight/flight haymaker blindsided him in one instance, the other, standing by a bottle rack next to a drink machine, and I shattered a 10 oz. RC bottle on the side of his head.

But I will admit by the time I got back home after my time in Uncle Sam's Canoe Club, I suspect it aligned more with your experience.

The 'projects' were starting about that time. They didn't see it at the time, but that created the environment we have today. The city used eminent domain bullshit, and leveled blocks and blocks of black owned homes and business forced them out of, and built projects for them to move into. They basically took away their right to OWN a home or business, cramming them into sanitized cookie cutter apartments, with no sense of ownership.

The black neighborhoods that escaped this, are still there, and are nice areas. The main problem is that they are targeted by the gangs selling drugs coming out of the projects. The difference, the residence have ownership, they take care of it because they are owners. The residents work with law enforcement to get the drug dealers out of their neighborhood, where they are protected in the projects.

My Sister and her husband's family are all conservative and has been for decades. They tolerate Trump for the tax breaks. They own lots of property.
Damn, your sister's family make enough money to actually benefit from Rump's tax cut, or they like the typical knuckledragging conserative that a little more take-home pay because the withholding was reduced has duped them as it has millions of other idiots?
