how do you transfer utilities??

I'm renting my gmothers house, do I:
1) transfer my utilities over to the house, and have her cancel all her utilities

2) have her transfer her utilities into my name

Usually you just sign up for utilities.

Then the previous subscriber is sent a final bill up to the day of the switch...which often requires a final reading by an actual person depending on the utility.
