How do you transfer a Diablo II CDkey from one user to another?

I'm talking with another AT member about buying his copy of d2. I want a working, valid CD Key to play online (warez version of the game is available) first and foremost, and he played online via bnet with his copy. How do I go about transfering his CDKey/account to me? I'm assuming each account is associated with a key, like with tribes 2. Or am I totally wrong there and overlooking a simple exchange?

Yes it's a simple exchange. The cd keys are not linked to an account. Hell, my friend and I played on his account at the same time. We even tried playing as the same character but I got d/c'ed within 10 seconds.
