also, muslim resentment in current days can be traced back to the crusades....crusaders would come in, slaughter men women and children....the locals woudl take back over, let everyone live peacefully, even crusaders that wanted to stay....crusaders woudl come in again, slaughter everone, and the localcs would take back over eventually...wash rinse repeat

We'd live in a crazy world where Muslims live in the Middle East.

Imagine the crazyness...

I think a better question is what would the world be like if the Muslims didn't get pushed out of Spain and other parts of Southern Europe?

The Crusades were, in part, a response to the Ottoman Empire's invasion of Northern Africa and Southern Europe.

Why no resentment for Mongolia then? They did the same thing, and Khan seems to be a popular name for some Muslims.

First Crusade, Christians did OK for a while. Second and third they got their asses handed to them.

But with all our modern weaponry, surely Christians will do much better now.

The current crusades are going pretty well... Iraq is down, we have Israel in the area, Iran might go down soon....

And Chevron would win because gas prices would double while a Shell exec would get an article written defending his decision to turn Cuba into his own private island.

As long as there are christian, jewish, and muslim religions there will never be peace in that region. It all boils down to a family matter thousands of years ago.

No, it boils down to the current muslim generation being rather extremist in their views (moreso than the other two).

They now have titanium crosses, carbon fiber replicas of jesus nailed up with depleted uranium nails. They also have bibles made with fireproof materials so they can't be burned. We're talking state of the art preaching here!

I believe that the mogols had a tendency to completely wipe out everyone they faces - you know, burn down the village, salt the earth, kill all the villagefolk, things like that - so that the others would surrender.

So all the ones that held a grudge against them were wiped out and the others became submissive to the point where grudges seem unlikely.
