How do you tell the diff between 90nm and 130nm?

Well, I wasn't able to get in on the Fry's Sempron 3100+ deal but my friend is offering to sell me the cpu. It isn't in a system, so I won't be able to test it to determine if it is a 90nm or 130nm since I don't have a socket 754 mobo. My question is, how do you tell the difference between the 90nm and 130nm visually? Please help.

There was only one S754 Sempron chip based on the 130nm process and that was the 3100+. All of them were 130nm chips. There is no 90nm 3100+. Go for the 3000+ (half the cache of the 3100+). Or better yet go for the 2800+. It has the best price/ performance ratio. FYI, all other 130nm Semprons were Socket A.

My Sempron 3100+ is 90nm

Wrong. There IS a 90nm 3100+.

AMD made the 3000+ (seen as often as socket 939 Semprons) and the 3100+ in 130nm. In my experience with a single sample, overclocked to about 2.2GHz. The 90nm chips seem to have more headroom plus runs cooler at the same time so IMO is worth getting instead of the 130nm. The Fry's deal is usually the 130nm, but one person claimed they got a 90nm. I personally got a 130nm from Fry's on 12/26 and know two other people who also got 130nm from different Fry's.

To tell which core it is, look at the markings on the CPU.

SDA3100AIP3AX is 130nm
SDA3100AIO3BO is 64 bit 90nm
SDA3100AIO3BX is 64 bit 90nm
SDA3100AIO3BA is 64 or 32 bit 90nm (two versions with same tray part #)
