The person I am seeing right now has consistant bad breath. I don't want to come right out and say it, but they probably really need to get to flossing and use mouthwash or something.
How could I tell them nicely?

Kiss, and then:"Is that you or is that me? Can't be me, I just brushed." They'll feel guilty and brush a lot :p.

offer them gum or something. if they say "no" ask them if they are sure? if they say no again. say how about a tic tac? or a breath mint!

they should get the hint then. most do after you offer them gum.

Spouse: "Go brush your damn teeth, you have monkey mouth."
My mother in law: Offer a mint or gum and don't say a word. She has the WORLD'S WORST BREATH, it smells like feces. It literally gags you at ten feet if she's facing your direction. I think she has sinus infections or a bad tooth or something.

Just make a joke out of it. 'Man your breath is kicking" worked for me. :)

A girlfriend told me that once, and I started brushing and flossing daily after that. It became a habit to take care of my mouth after that.

I am almost obsessed with brushing with peroxide, baking soda and toothpaste, and blasting my teeth with water, at least once a week in addition to daily brushing now.

Bad breath is a communicable "disease". His bacteria stink badly. Now those smelly bacteria are in your mouth (permanently). Zysoclaplem, sorry to break it to you, but you probably now have bad breath for life.

Definitely the best way.

You're dating my coworker?

We all went out to lunch last week and he was in the THIRD ROW OF MY MINIVAN for a 5 MINUTE DRIVE and by the end of it, his breath had stunk the whole thing up.

No one will sit next to him or directly across from him in meetings.

It's insanely wicked breath. I'm talking "knock buzzards off a sh*twagon" wicked.

He's openly gay. Of course it's a guy he's seeing.

That's because the other person is a guy. :D

If I have stinky breath, I want to know about it so I can do something to fix it. Break it to him nicely (or at least creatively-- there are a lot of good suggestions in this thread), but definitely make sure you let him know so he can try to fix it.

LOL I did that to a manager of mine when I was working at Circuit City back in college. He was a pretty cool guy and our team got along pretty well. Anyway, one day he strolls in and he's about halfway into his second word of the day and I was just like "holy damn man... did you eat SH*T for breakfast?!". It was just a total kneejerk reaction. It was so foul. We all laughed and he went and bought some tic tacs.
