How do you tell if you have a flashable BIOS Eprom?

I just downloaded a newer version of a BIOS (ai7a) for a MSI MS-5136 motherboard. Instructions warn to make sure you have a flashable BIOS. How do I tell if this motherboard has a flash Eprom?

Well, I have to assume that if they are providing a bios update, they would only do so for a machine that was able to utilize it.

Actually what that means is some BIOSs have a feature to make the Eprom not flashable. Its a protection thing.

It is usually an option under Advanced Options. It will say something like BIOS Flashable Yes/No. Your BIOS will not flash if it is set to No.

oic. On older boards, there may be a jumper that needs to be changed to allow the bios to be writeable.
