How do you tell if a dwarf hamster is a boy or a girl?

We're on the way to the pet store because my daughter feels the need for another dwarf hamster.
How do you tell the boys from the girls?

Not true: hamsters will try to butt-rape each other. I'm not even kidding. My friends had 2 male hamsters in the same cage...the alpha male continually tried to mount the other male; this would be followed by a series of loud [pained] squeaks.

Hamsters can suck their nutz back inside their body; it's not alwasy possible to sex a hamster by looking for testicles. If you have two hamsters (of different sex) to compare, you can easily tell them apart. A male hamster will have a larger space between its penis and its anus than a female hamster.

(Russian) dwarf hamsters bite, they just don't bite hard enough to penetrate the skin unlike e.g. golden hamsters.
