I'm telling you guys that my sister's lack of street smarts is going to get her killed one of these days. She has been trying to sell off some of her old stuff (cd player, speakers, etc....) and she heard it through the grapevine that someone was interested (it's the friend of a waiter at this restaurant we like to hang out at). Well today me my sister and her fiance went out to lunch and the buyer was there hoping to make the transaction (I'm guessing the waiter called up his buddy and told him we'd be coming). Well, we didn't have the stuff so my sister told the guy that she'd have to make the sale at another time. He then asked if she could just meet him in this one part of town (that frankly isn't all that great) and seal the deal tonight. And my sister agreed!!! Luckily me and her fiance were able to talk her out of this meeting, but how can she be so naive to think that nothing will happen?

I'm not saying that it's a sure bet that something was going to go down, but these days you never know. If someone asked you to meet them at a certain time & place in an unfamiliar neighborhood, wouldn't you at least be a little cautious? Especially if you didn't even know the guy?

I dunno, maybe I'm over-reacting but lets just say that I'm glad that my sister won't be going through with the deal tonight.

Not a good idea, especially if the mistake prives fatal.

Usually, people have to learn the hard way.

Oh, BTW, tell her I have some PRIME Florida real estate for her. A real bargain. :D

There is not other way for someone to learn, humans learn by experience, and nothing else.

Well, what happens if she doesn't come back?

It's true that the stuff she's pawning off isn't that expensive, but my cousin was in a similar situation and now he's 6 feet under. My cousin was trying to sell his truck so he listed it in the paper hoping that someone would be interested. Well one day he gets a call and the guy on the phone tells him where to meet and what time to be there and he'd buy the truck off him. So my cousin calls up his friend and tells him to tag along in his car that way he'd have a ride home after the sale. Well, wouldn't you know it, the buyer rolls up with some of his boys, pulls out a gun and kills my cousin, severely injures his friend, and takes off with his truck.

Sure the truck is way more expensive than my sisters stuff, but still she acts like it's impossible that something like this would ever happen to her.
