How do you take a screen shot of your desktop?

In linux?

I know how to do it in Windows (Print Screen then Paste in a grahical editor)

But um.....gimp doesn't have a paste thingy as far as i can see.

Any thoughts?

Thanks for the link. Unfortunately, I don't think the version he was using is the same as mine (the menu commands are different).

But I got it to work in any case. Thanks!
