How do you store your burnt CD's/DVD's?

I have re-used some old CD cases (from magazines etc) and some DVD's I have in spindles, but i was thinking of buying a bucketload of slimline CD cases for extra protection.

Anyone else use CD cases, or just like paper wallets/nothing?
 
I use a little bit of each.

I have quite a few dvds/cds that I used for backups and similar stuff... those I generally keep on a spindle.
I keep the rare games and movies that I burn in a cd binder.
And I keep cds that I give away, or cds that I keep nearby my computer in those small slimline cases.
 
I used to use spindles and binders, but had some discs die prematurely (especially bottoms of spindles). I'm currently using some cheap knock offs of the disc gear concept:

Each disc gets its own slot, held only by the edges, and you can select a disc to get lifted up when opening, so getting a disc doesn't put any wear on other discs. Amusingly, I actually have one non-knock off Discgear one and it is much more fragile and has more parts, heh.
 
That looks quite convenient. Which knockoff brand are you using right now? The Discgear original ones are way too expensive.

500gb backup drive ($170 from Outpost) & rip the discs to ISOs (disc images). For software I use Nero 6 Ultra Edition & NRG2ISO, plus the ImageDrive app in Nero for mounting the ISOs virtually. Switching over to a NAS soon 🙂

They are marked mead, but I've never been able to find them again after buying the first bunch off ebay. Maybe Discgear has a patent or something, heh.
 
i just kind of throw them on the floor, and dont label them. i think im going to move to hardrive storage, and flash for portable stuffs

data in spindle + cd bank cataloger software so i don't have to bother reading labels or whatever. just number the discs😛
 
I use spindles. Had them that way for years and never had any troubles. The old DVD's still play and the old games still install perfectly.
 
Just curious, what binders do you guys use? Mine always start falling apart when they get full...
 
I put them in CD jewel cases and then in those racks that hold 30-45 jewel cases each.

Looking around, I have 11 of them so far.

Spares go in cardboard boxes in a closet.

So how do you know which disk you are selecting? Trial and error would be time consuming.

I just use a CD wallet, at the moment, I keep two 256 CD wallets. One for games and application CDs, the other for music, archived backups, and misc.
 
We got a big load of free CD jewel cases (200+), and we use those in conjunction with spindles (for long series of stuff) and CD cases (for movies and music).
