How do you stop loving someone?

I can't really give any detail into the question, and wouldn't if I could.

But... say that you love this girl. You want to spend the rest of your life with her, treat her like a princess, and enjoy a life together... except she doesn't see you that way at all. It seems that everything you do or say makes the situation worse.

How do you stop loving her, without losing her as a friend? Its an age old question, and I've posted stuff along these lines before... and never gotten anywhere. heh

Suggestions?

been there and done that, love someone else is absolutely the best answer you are going to get, in other words move on. it wasnt meant to be, stop wasting your time or else you will regret it in the future. if she doesnt see it the same way you do, then its her loss and you should definitely find someone worthy of your time.

Become a cold heartless asshole, inspire some quiet girl some day when you get semi old, teasing and poking fun at her/all who you know with your whitty jokes, have her be mystified by you and "convert you back" with you coming to the realization that she is doing this with you explaining to her of a time some one broke your heart and then you turned into what you are now, she responds with some line and wins your heart for either her to leave you in a year or you two live happily ever after and you sell the script of your life. (Inhales and exhales, sighs) :)

Depending on how bad it is, you might need 3 or 4 years. But yeah, avoiding her would be a good idea.

Sad to say it, but I'm afraid you don't ... the only things that will make you feel better are time without seeing her at all (likely several years) & finding somone new to love.

You can't. This is why unrequited love sucks so much. The only thing you can do is move on with your life and try to meet someone else.

Tell me about it man. Same thing going on here. Loving someone else is almost equally hard as you have to find someone else to love.

*sigh* man-drama

GL to you buddy.

that's pretty much not an option... she already knows what i said in my first post... she's a lurker here, so i'm sure she'll be reading this... <sigh> so this might be seen as a cry for attention or something when that's not at all what i intended. :(

i really don't want to stop trying, but when she's made it clear that nothing will ever happen... heh there's no way i could handle the heartbreak of continually trying and failing.

i'm trying to figure out how to move on... how to stop loving her. she's my best friend by far... so i feel like i'm really fvcked.

yes, she has said that she has thought about me being a potential boyfriend before, but that it can't happen. i disagree with her logic, though.... i think that is why i'm having such a hard time letting go. :(

<edit> i cannot fault her or "blame her" for what she believes in - i would never want to compromise something if she is certain of it. i just disagree with it.
