How do you stay up (not fall asleep) during classes, meetings, or at work?

I have had similar problems and still do. If I don't move around for a while, my heart rate jsut slows alot and I get drowy. This is regardless of how much slep I get.

Bottom Line: CAFFIENE!!!!
At home, soda does the trick.
At work, I drink coffee.

And if you drink alot of soda (4+ cans a day), your body is used to caffeine. If you are going to class for 11 hours and not taking in any caffeine, you will get drousey from lack of caffiene.

So, what I'm getting at is what is your normal caffiene intake?

I eat adderall like skittles.
(not really, I only eat one or two a day, but that 'ish sure does the trick)
As the laziest workaholic ever they have been a life saver.

That can't be good.
My doctor say's it's fine.
He freaking gives them to me. I eat a bunch of suplements including anti-oxidants so my brain is protected, plus I drink a gallon and a half of water a day and eat pretty healthy so my body is fine, plus I don't eat them everyday I also routenely take several week breaks to give my body(especially my heart) a rest. I make it a point to do everything in my power to minimize the negative aspects of speed use.

The one and only suicidal thought I ever had was on Adderol.

After that I never took it again, and finally found out how clueless most docs are about mental health.

Maybe I just had bad luck.

I'm probably the happiest person I know.

That is true, but I take my health into my own hands.
Neurology and psychology are big interests of mine, I wouldn't be surprised if I knew more about the stuff than he did.

How tough is it to get ADD medication anyway? Is it enough to just say you have trouble concentrating on work and school?

It seems like unless I get a good 9-10 hours of sleep (and that doesn't happen too often), I'll get pretty tired during the day. Caffeine pills are a life saver - but I have to kinda keep track of how much I've taken; once I get above ~600mg in a day, my heart feels like it's going to jump out of my chest. 😛 (Luckily I don't often have to take that much, only when doing all-nighters - which I've managed to mostly minimize lately.)

Daydream about titties to stay awake during class. Really gets the blood flowing.

Just hope you don't get called to the blackboard to solve a problem.

Depends on the doctor, really. My doctor knew I probably don't have ADD but thought it might help me solve some problems, so he prescribed me some. And if you're on a college campus, you can probably get some another way.

I too took things into my own hands and it was the best decision I ever made concerning the matter.

i use to have that problem in certain classes. once you fall asleep in a class, or at work, it is very likely to become habitual. dont let it happen!

Take guarana or a combination of guarana and ephedra. You'll stay awake. But then you'll need melatonin, passion flower, and valerian root to help you get to sleep.

Its all about routine. You need to be getting at least 8 hours of sleep a night, and it has to be a routine. On top of that, keep giving your body energy (no sugar). Drink gatoraide, eat energy bars, etc...

Err....

I've always found I do best with 6-7 hours of sleep. 8 or more makes me more tired, somehow.

I also don't drink coffee. To stay up, I take notes...and if I can't do anything else, stand up and listen from the back of the room.

[Edit] There's also Ripped Fuel 😱

i have major problems like this when i'm in a class or meeting that is extremely boring or i don't understand or just don't care about.

friday i was in a meeting for 2 hours, 1-3 pm. any time i would lower my head to look at the table or even just lower my eyes, my eyelids would get extremely heavy and i just wanted to sleep. it was a situation where i didn't understand anything they were talking about.
