How do you speed up keyboard response time?

I changed something in my keyboard settings somehow (don't me ask how) and now my keyboard response time is very slow. A LONG time ago, I somehow set it up so that if i were to hold down a key, it would repeat the same key at a very fast pace; like if i wanted to delete a whole paragraph in a word processor, i'd hold the backspace key and it would RAPIDLY start deleting. Now, back to default settings, it seems like the response is at a snail's pace...

Any remedies?

Keyboard control panel=>Speed tab=>Repeat rate setting
