How do you span across multiple monitors in games?

You need an NVIDIA card, and set the display mode to horizontal span. Games that use directdraw for resolutions and refresh rate will automatically show the new dual monitor modes such as 2048x768, 2560x960, 3200x1200, etc..
ATI drivers are highly lacking in the multi monitor features.

I haven't been able to get this to work with either ATI or NVIDIA.

You spent $1900 on 3 17 inch LCDs??

Did you have a coupon, was it work related, or something else?

However, this will only work on two monitors -- the spanned displays have to be on the same video card.

The only way right now to game across three monitors (without special game support) is to use one of the Matrox triple-head cards. A handful of games (mostly flight simulators) support running accelerated windows on multiple displays (and so can do things like this with just about any graphics cards), but most games do not.

Yea, the picture I was thinking of some guy had like 14 monitors hooked together all for playing MS Flightsim.

So I guess you can't just do that for any game, that sux.

I do not have 3 LCD displays I just wanted to get some ideas for possible products to manufacture because I may be able to get some funding.

ATI Catalyst drivers could use better multimonitor support, however, they do support horizontal span mode.

Yeah I just treid hl2 at 2560x1024 on my x800xt-pe, runs rather slow but it sure looks wild. Can't say I'd like to play like that with the crosshair in the split though, even if my monitors were right next to eachother and the same size.

That's new. I'll have to download the latest drivers and give that a shot.

I use 2 Hyundai L90D+'s (Waiting for gaming support for 3) with my 6800GT. The crosshair issue is easily resolved by running in window mode and shifting the screen over so the full crosshair is on one of the screens. It is awesome! I prefer this to playing on my 42" HD Hitachi Plasma.
