I'm finding my recent sleeping arrangement a bit difficult. Actually not me, but my spouse.

She complains that I snore... and eveytime she pokes me awake, I stopped..but 30 seconds later I start up again. I'm amazed that I can fall asleep that fast.

Also, when we are in the downstair bedroom, she complains that I create a 'sinkhole' in the fullsize bed that she couldn't escape from. I'm only 180lb, 5'11... No problem with the sinkhole when we're sleeping upstairs on the kingsize.

I guess I can solve the second problem by moving a queensize bed to the downstair bedroom. but how to deal with the snore? anyone?

update: I tried the stripes .... and it seems to ONLY work when I'm sleeping on my side. (which should be most of the time...)

however, what worked best was when I drugged my wife.... she slept like a baby..... (j/k, she takes 1/2 of a pill of something for when she can't sleep)

I will try the spray if i can find any

Hmm....that's a tough one. One bit of advice I can give you is that I (according to the wife) only snore when I've had a few beers that evening. Dunno if this applies to you or not, but just a thought. If it's really bad, you may want to consider getting some advice from a sleep clinic since snoring will sometimes evolve into sleep apnea (you actually stop breathing)....which is bad, mmmnkay.

Find out if it's a nasally snore that breathe rite strips would fix... or a throaty one that would require a spray. They had this on the news the other day. ;)

Weird that you sleep in two diff beds!

I store after a few beer worse than normal too. Personally I snore the most on my back, so you may want to try stomach (bad for your back), or just stay on your sides. Or just hit her every time she bugs ya. Tell her to get ear plugs!

I know that it's not the most preferable, nor is it exactly the most popular, but some coulples have found that they only way they get any sleep is by having seperate bedrooms. I know it sounds horrid and frigid and completely unromantic, but hey - if you never get a good nights sleep, how good is your relationship anyway?

Like I said, it's not preferable, but at least something to consider. Sounds like you already have two different bedrooms setup, so you are one step ahead.

Another alternative: Every time she pokes you, turn over and say, "Huh...what? Time for sex?" :D

I can only sleep on my back. If I sleep on my stomach, I have troubles breathing. If I sleep on my side, the whole side of my body that I'm laying on goes numb. Uhg.

So back it is!

I can't sleep on my back, I get bad aches that way. But if I do... apparently the miniblinds rattle with the snoring. I, too, must sleep on my side.

My wife and I have slept in separate beds for several years. She has restless leg syndrome and it is impossible for me to get a good night's sleep with her. It's harder on her than it is me for us to be sleeping in separate beds.

I kinda like it, she feels guilty. Doesn't effect the sex life though, I just get up and go to the other bed when finished.

Ok, we have 3 bedrooms... and the fullsize bed is in the master bedroom... we are in the process of moving from the upstair bedroom to the master bedroom. (long boring story)

It looks like the fullsize bed is either too small or too soft which will create a sinkhole when i sleep on it. but it's like sleeping on the cloud. I guess I can give that up and move a queensize bed into there.

I'm going to try the nasel strips and/or the spray. have you guys have any experience with that? do they require prescription?

I sleep on my side as i think i'd choke if i sleep on my back, and i can't breath on my stomach....

I need space... no complaints of snoring, but I want space, I don't like being pressed up against someone all night unless it's freezing. I just can't sleep that way..

OK people, search for sleeping problems. the snoring thing has been gone over.

1) It's usually a sign of sleep apena, this isbad, yes you can die from it.
2)if it's just snoring or apnea there are things thqt can bee done about but you have to go to a doctor. go see a sleep psecialist. most GP's don't know crap about sleeping problems.
3) snoring and apnea are almost always worse on your back. Try sleep ing on your side or stomach. or with more pillows to elevate you.

jemcam: is you wife being treated for RLS ? They have some great new treatments for it. I've seen how bad it can get.

I worked 3 years as a Sleep tech (polysomnagraphic technologist) There are MANY MANY people with sleeping problems that just suffer through life with them when you don't have.

I hope this helps.

She has been regularly seeing a sleep specialist in Tampa. He's supposed to be one of the world's leading experts on it. She has a multitude of problems, not just RLS. It's so bad, she can't work, she's constantly exhausted and is on disability for it. She's had numerous sleep studies done, and she never goes into REM, which makes her constantly tired.

Agreed, that is weird... :)

I snore sometimes, but the throat spray usually works... A few times I've gone to sleep with Thumper only to find her on the couch in the morning. I keep telling her to wake me up, but she says she doesn't mind...

I do, cause I like having her in the bed with me in the morning, very soothing having her there... Plus there is always the chance of morning playtime if she's already in bed with me! ;)
