How do you "Ski" in Tribes? :)

I've been playing Tribes for quite some time, but I have never been able to get down the art of "skiing." I see heavies moving as fast as light armour and I get jealous 🙂

So how do you do it?

tap the jump button very fast.

Briefly? Jet up "close" to slopes while tapping jump. When you're over the top, kill the jets and tap jump quickly and repeatedly. If you're in the 3rd person perspective your guy will be doing a little knee-bent hop so you know it's working.

At least that was how I did it in the barely patched version ages ago. What version # are they up to now? Are they still having problems with asshsles doing DOS attacks?

I use(d) MrPoops pack with the skijump script. Hey call me a pussy but it worked good. All you have to do is hold jump button when going down a slope and it will ski very well. And another cool thing I found is that on inclines like the outsides of the bases in Broadside/Blastside, you can hold jump and climb up the whole wall till ya hit the 90 degree angle part which only requires a second of jetpack.

This pack is so fundamental to Tribes that I would guess 99% of all people playing in OLG use this script. Many use a few more additional scripts, but these almost always require the PRESTO PACK to be installed.
