How do you ship UPS?

As a private person, not a company. Do you take it to the Post Office and ship it UPS that way? Or do you find a "UPS Service Center" or something? Thanks.

MichaelD, I go to my local Staples B&M location as they are Authorized UPS Ship Centers and don't charge any overhead vs. places like Mailboxes Etc. Hope this helps :)

Some Staples and Office Depot locations are authorized UPS shipping outlets. (Staples recently started charging standard UPS shipping rates, not sure about Depot)

I go to Office Depot or Staples, the fancy mall based mailing stations charge whatever the market will bear for shipping. Office Depot & Staples just charge what you'd pay @ a regular UPS shipping point.

Ah, thank you.

I need to ship a box the size that a full-size PC case comes in. Weighs about 20 pounds. The contents are packaged securely enough to withstand even the Chimps at UPS. LOL! :D

I always drive up to the ups place where the trucks are and have them send it out. Or my dad sends them from work if I don't need them insured.

you can call them and ask for a pickup, head to a staffed center, or go to a dropoff box

I didn't know Staples et al didn't mark up UPS shipping rates. I've been driving 10 miles to the UPS Customer Counter all this time to save those $3-4 markups at Mailbox Etcs.

I have several UPS Accounts (business1, business2, and personal). Creating the labels online is far easier, plus you don't pay the added costs of shipping via Mail Boxes Etc. or the like.

Sometimes the lines at the UPS center will deter some people. If Staples will ship without a mark-up, by all means use that.

Never go near a Mail Boxes Etc without a big tube of Astroglide.

A couple facts here:
The UPS counter service at most UPS centers doesn't charge "UPS" prices. It actually adds 40% to the normal charge.

UPS will pickup packages from your home, but they charge you $10 per package (unless of course you have an account with them, in which case it'll range from $7 to $16 per week for pickup).

Printing online is the way to go. Make sure its not inkjet, and place some tape over the label.

I think you are talking out of your ass. *Every* pickup I've ever had with UPS has been free. And you are contending the actual UPS customer counters charge 40% above their own rates? I dont think so, please explain where you learned this stuff.

Depends on the location. Most if not all Staples that are authorized UPS dealers have started charging normal UPS rates starting in June. (They used to mark it up)
