How do you ship alcoholic beverages through the mail?

I know that some places will send alcohol through the mail (I have seen a couple websites that do this). My question is what are the regulations for shipping alcohol between states here in the USA?

according to this page, hi-time wine cellars (800/331-3005) has all stone stuff. and they ship to you as long as its fine by state laws.

That is part of it, but I also have a friend in another state who wants some Liquid Arrogance. And I was considering mailing a bottle... without a valid return address.
